APPROVED MINUTES COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING FEBRUARY 28, 2017 The Port of Seattle Commission held a special meeting, Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at the Conference Center at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Seattle, Washington. Commissioners Albro, Bowman, Creighton, Felleman, and Gregoire were present. Commissioner Creighton participated by telephone until 9:52 a.m. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 9:09 a.m. by Commission President Tom Albro. 2017 WORK PLAN Presentation materials included an agenda with times, a 2017 Commission work program description, draft key initiatives for 2017, a revised version of draft Commission-wide priorities and key actions, a 2017 proposed boards and commissions list, 2017 Port-wide goals, and a conceptual schedule diagram. Also provided at the time of the meeting were status updates on the Public Affairs Transformation initiative dated February 22, 2016, and February 28, 2017. Facilitated by consultants Kate Snider and Phyllis Shulman, Commissioners engaged in a discussion of organizing the Port Commission’s work in 2017. The meeting built on principles and priorities arising from the Commission’s work session of January 13, 2017. Alignment between Commission priorities, Port-wide goals, operational cycles of work, the activities of the Northwest Seaport Alliance, and thoughtful use of the Commission’s public meeting agenda was discussed. Commissioners conferred on their participation on a number of outside boards and commissions in 2017. Commissioners considered the timing and process for the search for a new Chief Executive Officer. Interim Chief Executive Officer Dave Soike, Port of Seattle Chief of Staff Larry Ehl, Commission Chief of Staff Mike Merritt, Senior Director of Public Affairs Julie Collins, and Commission Issues and Policy Manager Aaron Pritchard participated in the discussion.
