                                  COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING JUNE 27, 2017 
                The Port of Seattle Commission held a special meeting,  Tuesday, June 27, 2017,  at the
                    Conference Center at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Seattle, Washington. Commissioners 
                     Albro, Bowman, Felleman, and Gregoire were present. Commissioner Gregoire participated by
                   telephone. Commissioner Creighton was absent. 
               CALL TO ORDER 
                    The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Commission President Tom Albro. 
                    Presentation materials included a packet comprised of cruise tourism materials, including a market
                    assessment, and presentation slides on Seattle's working waterfont. 
                  The Commissioners engaged in a discussion of quality jobs, the future of Seattle's working
                     waterfront, and the Port's role in growing and accommodating waterfront industries, such as cruise,
                    container cargo, and fishing. Transportation issues associated with growth of these industries and
                   other growth in the SODO neighborhood were discussed. 
                    Commissioners examined the topic of applying quality jobs principles generally to award of Port
                    contracts. They considered the mechanics of expanding application of quality jobs beyond airport
                and airport dining and retail jobs. Further work with the Central Procurement Office and
                     Commission staff on policy development in this area is anticipated in the near future. 
                 Commissioners compared notes on expectations for proposed changes to Commission bylaws
                     affecting duties of and succession planning for Commission officers. 
              ADJOURNMENT 
                    The Commission completed its business and adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
