Item 6d Motion

PORT OF SEATTLE COMMISSION MOTION REGARDING THE AUTHORITY TO THE
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER TO AMEND CURRENT COLLECTIVE BARGAINING
AGREEMENTS
July 28, 2009
Statement in Support of the Motion
The Port of Seattle has recently offered staff a Voluntary Separation Program (VSP) to
reduce personnel costs, create internal employment and development opportunities,
and reduce the need for involuntary staff reductions. Because certain current Collective
Bargaining Agreements are not consistent with the VSP, and if the Chief Executive
Officer deems it appropriate to include the VSP in current Collective Bargaining
Agreements, he will be required to negotiate amendments to those Agreements to make
them consistent with the VSP.
Motion
The Commission delegates to the CEO authority to make and execute amendments to
any and all current Collective Bargaining Agreements for the purpose of implementing
the 2009 VSP at the CEO's discretion.

Limitations of Translatable Documents

PDF files are created with text and images are placed at an exact position on a page of a fixed size.
Web pages are fluid in nature, and the exact positioning of PDF text creates presentation problems.
PDFs that are full page graphics, or scanned pages are generally unable to be made accessible, In these cases, viewing whatever plain text could be extracted is the only alternative.
