Item 5b Memo

PORT OF SEATTLE
MEMORANDUM

COMMISSION AGENDA Item No. 5b
Date of Meeting January 27, 2009
DATE: January 21, 2009
TO: Tay Yoshitani, Chief Executive Officer
FROM: Craig Watson, General Counsel
SUBJECT: Request for Motion Authorizing the Sale of Port Personal Property by the Chief
Executive Officer

BACKGROUND

Pursuant to RCW 53.08.090, a port commission may, by resolution renewed from year to year,
authorize the managing officer of a port district to sell and convey port district personal property
of $10,000 or less in value. Section 18 of Resolution No. 3605, as Amended, provides that the
annual renewal of the Chief Executive Officer's authority may be accomplished by motion. It is
now the appropriate time for the Commission to renew the Chief Executive Officer's authority
for the year 2008.

REQUESTED ACTION

The Commission is requested to renew, by motion, the Chief Executive Officer's authority to sell
and convey Port District personal property of $10,000 or less in value for 2009.
