FROM: Elizabeth Leavitt, Director, Aviation Planning and Environmental Programs
Michael Lufkin, Sr. Environmental Strategy Manager, Aviation Env. Programs

SUBJECT: Seattle Tacoma International Airport's (Sea-Tac) Five Year Environmental
Strategy Plan As It Relates to the Century Agenda

BACKGROUND
The purpose of this briefing is to provide the Port of Seattle Commission with an overview of
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport's recently completed Five-Year Environmental Strategy
Plan, "A Vision for 2014 and Beyond" (Plan). The Plan defines the airport's environmental
leadership strategy by identifying environmental goals that staff proposes we achieve by 2014.
The Plan includes performance metrics for key environmental indicator areas, which will allow
Sea-Tac to quantitatively measure environmental performance across time and against its goals.
This Environmental Strategy Plan is aspirational. Although the Plan identifies actions and
strategies that move Sea-Tac towards achievement of its environmental goals, it does not commit
any financial resources or mandate any specific action or project. All future projects and actions
will be evaluated to ensure that they provide value for money spent, and will obtain any
necessary Commission approvals. The Plan will serve as a guide for planning, setting priorities
and allocation of resources.

Limitations of Translatable Documents

PDF files are created with text and images are placed at an exact position on a page of a fixed size.
Web pages are fluid in nature, and the exact positioning of PDF text creates presentation problems.
PDFs that are full page graphics, or scanned pages are generally unable to be made accessible, In these cases, viewing whatever plain text could be extracted is the only alternative.
