In our briefing we will discuss our goals, the delivery of major construction projects, and collection restoration and asset management. Cultural Programing- Will be reviewed upon approval of updated policy and guidelines. Working with cultural partners in the Puget Sound region to elevate our internal partnership with the Port’s music program. Conservation & Maintenance efforts (including deferred conservation and maintenance of existing art) • Removed “The Landing” by Ralph Helmick and Stuart Schechter from the Central Terminal (May) Template revised April 12, 2018. COMMISSION AGENDA – Briefing Item No. 11a Page 2 of 3 Meeting Date: November 29, 2022 • “Spinning Our Wheels” by Linda Beaumont- Project will be sent out for competitive bidding by CPO • “Pantopol V” by Ted Jonsson- will need to be removed from A Concourse due to upcoming expansion project by the end of the year • “Infinity Column” by John Geise- Damaged neon to be repaired (October). • Organization and updating of storage areas • Ongoing regular maintenance including restoration of casework for William Morris “Northwest Garnering” (August) Capital Projects/Commissions • Installation in the IAF of the Indigenous artworks purchased in 2021. Collaborated with local fabricator to design, create and install brand new display cases • Artworks installed in the Employee Services Center (October) • Restroom phase 4: - Restroom B9: Maja Petric, “We The Stars” will be installed in the next few weeks - Restroom C2/C3 South: Emily Tanner McLean was selected - Restroom D2 all gender: Request for Acquisitions released mid-November until early December is a Nation-wide call • Widen Arrivals project: Sabine Marcelis and Brian Sanchez have been selected • C Concourse expansion project: multiple Request For Qualifications (RFQs) released by the end of November • North Main Terminal is in planning phase Temporary Art • Partnership with Pilchuck glass school for temporary exhibition at SEA from October 2021 to October 2022 • Exhibition of 7 local artists for Native Heritage Month from October 2022 to the end of the year • Temporary art exhibition at Pier 69: Emily Tanner-McLean from September 2021 to June 2022 • Temporary art exhibition at Pier 66 and Pier 69 with Schmidt Ocean Institute from October 2022 to April 2023 Other • Hosted AAAE Arts in the Airport Conference in August- over 50 attendees throughout North America Template revised September 22, 2016. Both will be located in A Concourse: one next to the Children play area, and the other one next to the elevators going to the STS level. • 8 artworks installed in the Club SEA at South Satellite in February • Using a Port-wide database (Fulcrum) to keep track of Port assets at the airport. This project started early 2021 • Bi-monthly updating our Public Art website and its content. We used to pay a fee to a third-party vendor to update our content, now everything is done internally by the Port • Implementing the first 10 art beacons at the airport Equity, diversity and inclusion principles initiatives/execution • Plan for 2023: Hosting bi-monthly tour of the Public Art collection at the airport, to share our assets with the local communities • Recent acquisitions in the IAF of 30 artworks by local Indigenous artists • Using expense money to do direct acquisitions and purchase artworks from BIPOC artists represented by women owned galleries • Worked with local small businesses: Allison & Ross (WMBE), Artech, The Lumiere Group (WMBE), Public Art Program Technician FTE • Pete Fleming (July) ATTACHMENTS TO THIS BRIEFING (1) Presentation slides PREVIOUS COMMISSION ACTIONS OR BRIEFINGS October 25, 2022 – The Commission approved the Public Art Program CIP Funding 2022-2023 C102066.
