2024 Aviation Fleet Purchases
Agenda Item: 8c_supp Meeting Date: September 10, 2024 Procurement Authorization for 2023/2024 Aviation Fleet Renewal and Replacement Dan Alter AV Fleet Manager 08.13.2024 Contracting Authority This request would allow AV Fleet move forward with procurement of small capital purchases. Request is made up of tool, equipment, and vehicles to support AVM, PD, OPS, and Fire 2 Contracting Authorization for Fleet Small Capital • $886K for remaining AV 2023 fleet small capital • $920K for Corporate 2024 fleet small capital (Police) • $2.173M for AV 2024 fleet small capital Total contracting approval request of $3.979M Does NOT include fleet buys funded through expense or large cap • Expense (<20K EX. stand on mowers, some electric vehicle movers, trailers) • Large capital buys Fleet (>299K EX. buses, airfield snow equipment, and larger class 6-8 trucks) 3 Examples of tools and equipment Electric burden carriers for transporting employees within the airport and terminals Crash Attenuator. Increases safety for work on roadways Electric lifts are shared between AV crafts to increase utilization Small EV SUVs Mowers for airfield mowing Backer Tank for Runway Deicer Storage Electric forklift, for the AVM Distribution Center 4 Examples of vehicles EV F150s are planned for multiple AVM shops. AVM has been an early adopter. Will procure an added EV for PD to evaluate different use cases and needs. Small EV SUVs Utility vehicles for AVM 3 Silverado EVs will be deployed for the OPS AOS group to displace the large gasoline fuel consuming vehicles in the fleet. 5 Aligning with the Sustainable Fleet Strategy All new equipment being procured will be more efficient, using less gasoline or diesel compared to the current vehicles being replaced. This will be achieved through the following strategies: •Hybrids •Right-sizing This request will also allow the transition of 10 gasoline-powered fleet vehicles to become electric vehicles (EVs). This change is expected to save 6,157 gallons of gasoline annually and reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 54.7 metric tons per year. Additionally, this request includes replacing 9 pieces of obsolete EV fleet equipment with new electric Fleet equipment, including forklifts, scooters, and scissor lifts. 6 Next Steps Procurement of approved items • Set up project 1 month after commission • Submit procurements as equipment opportunities exist for next 1 year • Inservice vehicles in 6 to 18 months from PO issuance 7 Questions?
