BACKGROUND The Port executed an agreement with Stantec Engineering, Inc. on July 29, 2009 to provide engineering services for the Centralized Precondition Air project (PC-Air Project) at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The initial contract amount was for $2,011,564. Subsequent to execution of the initial contract a total of 8 amendments have been executed. The attached table lists the amendments and the associated dates and amounts. Five of the amendments added scope and dollars; however, some of the amendments were for other purposes. Amendment 1 & 5 changed the schedule of positions and/or rates. Construction of the PC- Air project is currently in progress. During construction a number unforeseen conditions have required additional design. Amendment # 9 will address review and analysis of piping support and seismic bracing in the Preconditioned Air Central Plant. The Contractor selection equipment and pipe routing that was different than the basis of design in the PCAP area. Technical review of this installation is needed to confirm that the installation meets current seismic code. Since Stantec Inc. is the design engineer of record for the current work and this would be the most cost-effective approach. The not to exceed amount for the analysis is $31,630 and a Service Directive will authorize this work. Amendment 9 also provides for additional engineering design services for other unforeseen conditions discovered during construction with a not to exceed amount of $178,370. Therefore, Amendment 9 will increase the total contract amount by $250,000 from $3,013,069 to $3,263,069. Additional work will be authorized by task specific service directives.
