Box 1209 Seattle, Washington 98111 www.portseattle.org 206.787.3000 APPROVED MINUTES COMMISSION SPECIAL WORK SESSION SEPTEMBER 12, 2017 The Port of Seattle Commission held a special meeting, Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at the World Trade Center, 2200 Alaskan Way, Seattle, Washington. Commissioners Albro and Gregoire were present. Commissioner Bowman was present until 6:00 p.m. Commissioner Creighton was present until 6:15 p.m. Commissioner Felleman was present until 7:15 p.m. The meeting was called to order at 5:40 p.m. by Commission President Tom Albro. Commissioners engaged in discussions with executive staff on the affordability and funding priorities of proposed capital programs for non-airport-related port projects. The uses of tax levy funding and the methods for determining appropriate use of tax levy funding were discussed. There was discussion of the appropriate protocols for distinguishing between actionable direction of the Port Commission and individual commissioner sentiments on various questions. Policy efforts were summarized for prioritization and staff roles were described. At 7:15 p.m., with the loss of a quorum of Port Commissioners, the official work session concluded, although informal discussions with the remaining commissioners and staff continued.
