Subject: Locks Message from Director Brian Surratt

Lindsay and Eugene,

If appropriate and you are willing, we would be grateful if this message was delivered to the Port
Commission:

- Port of Seattle Commissioners, I'm sorry that I couldn't join you today in person to thank you for
your partnership in fixing the Ballard Locks;
- The Locks is critically important to the maritime industry, City of Seattle, the region, and to the
state of Alaska;
- Seattle's maritime industry is thriving, and our maritime sector is the envy of the nation;

- I pledge the City's continued partnership as we use the study to lobby for the funds needed to
fix the Locks;
- I thank you, again, for your partnership;

- I also want to thank Charlie at AWO, Eugene at NSlA, and all the individual funders of the study.

Thanks,

Roque
