Dear Ms. Montgomery and Ms. Monrad:
I am pleased to nominate Mr. Weldon E. Ihrig as Chair to the Neighbors' Advisory Committee
(NAC). Mr. Ihrig is a highly qualified individual who has previously served as the Executive Vice
President of the University of Washington where he was responsible for the management of all
financial and administrative services of the university. He was a primary policymaker for the
university and represented the university in political, business and civic affairs. He is recognized
nationally for his innovative business solutions and is a recipient of the National Association of
College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) Distinguished Business Officer Award.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Bill Winkelman for his longstanding service and
dedication as Chair to the NAC. He helped navigate the NAC during a time of significant change
in our city and we wish him well in his future endeavors.
The NAC provides an invaluable forum for community members from Magnolia and Queen Anne
to receive information about activities that impact their communities and provides critical
community feedback to the Port. The role of the Chair is extremely important and I am confident
that Mr. Ihrig will be able to perform the duties successfully and embody the values of public
service. In addition, NAC members have had the opportunity to meet with him and consider him a
good candidate for the role.
Please accept this letter as the Port of Seattle Commission's action to nominate Mr. Weldon Ihrig
as Chair to the NAC.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,

Courtney Gregoire
President
Port Commission
