Minutes Exhibit C

Port Letter on 1631

Recently, my 7 year old daughter, Mira, and I with about 35 other concerned citizens walked on a 12
mile solution walk from our community garden in SeaTac to here at the Port of Seattle. We walked
because my daughter wants to save the planet for her, and all children, and especially her 4-month-old
brother, Kai, whom she adores. When she grows up she told me she wants to be a rock star, marine
biologist, nurse, and the Governor of Washington. Anyone who has met her knows that she is capable
of all four. If we don't act immediately on climate change, there is a reality that she may not be able to
achieve any of the four. Well, maybe the rock star because that usually happens before one is 30. We
all know that climate change is occurring, and a recent New York Times article cited a report by some of
the top scientists saying we have only about 10 years to reverse the trend towards destruction of the
planet.

i try to teach my children by example. One of the principles that i have been teaching my daughter is
the golden rule: Do unto others as they would do unto you. This is why my daughter and I have
testied, done public speaking, helped to get signatures, door belied, met with the governor and
politicians, and did the march for the planet on behalf of 1631. it's not a perfect bill as it only effects 80
per cent of the states top polluters, but we believe it's a denite step in the right direction. We always
have to remember that the enemy of the good is the great. The people who put 1631 together have
made it easier for you to support it as many of your customers, who we all know are major polluters to
the environment, are exempt. However, that isn't the reason that you should support this bill. You
should support it because you care about your neighbor as yourself.

The reason we walked the 12 miles, on international Good Neighbor Day, was because I wanted to
establish that we need to be serious when it comes to pollution, including aviation and shipping, if we
are going to care for our children. i commend the Port for providing water bottles, and for walking a
mile at the beginning with their neighbors in SeaTac, and for welcoming us at the end with baked goods,
what one does on international Good Neighbor day, and opening up this building so we could recover
from our journey. it was a walk and talk on 12 different solutions to the aviation industries impact on
climate change and pollutions impact on human health. 1631 was one of our solutions.

it takes a village to make a problem, it takes a village to solve it. We all have contributed to the
problems of pollution and ultimately climate change, so we need to all do what we can to solve it. The
Port needs to do its part. With great power comes great responsibility. Your support for 1631 is a great
opportunity for you to use your immense power in Washington to help to save us all.

Sincerely,

Kent Palosaari, Seatac Resident
