All Gender Restroom Plan
Port of Seattle Working Group

1

BACKGROUND
All Gender Restrooms are restrooms that any person can use
regardless of their gender
o Benefits a variety of people including:
o Transgender and gender non-confirming individuals
o Caretakers and parents who assist someone of the opposite
gender
o Creates a safe space for employees and community members to use
the restrooms as it removes stigma or rationale for judgment as to
which gendered facilities to use

2

BACKGROUND

All Gender restroom plan to ensure that all existing and future
single-occupant restrooms at Sea-Tac, beyond meeting the
requirements set by the Washington State Building Code are
designated for use by any person, regardless of gender.
o Working Group established and met regularly
o Focus Groups held

Limitations of Translatable Documents

PDF files are created with text and images are placed at an exact position on a page of a fixed size.
Web pages are fluid in nature, and the exact positioning of PDF text creates presentation problems.
PDFs that are full page graphics, or scanned pages are generally unable to be made accessible, In these cases, viewing whatever plain text could be extracted is the only alternative.
