3              A RESOLUTION of the Port of Seattle Commission amending Resolution Nos.
4                                        3742, 3744, and 3754, regarding bylaws governing the
5                                        organization and transaction of business of the Port of
6                                        Seattle  Commission,  to  revise  the  object  statement  in
7                                        Article I.

9             WHEREAS, the voters of King County authorized and approved the formation of a port
10    district co-extensive with King County to be known as the Port of Seattle in a special election
11    on September 5, 1911; and 
12 
13            WHEREAS, the Port of Seattle Commission is the legally constituted governing body of
14    the Port of Seattle; and 
15 
16            WHEREAS, the commission deems it necessary to adjust the description of the Port of
17    Seattle in the object statement of the commission bylaws;

19            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Port Commission of the Port of Seattle as
20    follows:

22    Section 1.

24    Article I, Section 1, Port of Seattle Commission Bylaws, is amended to read as follows: 
25 
26    The Port of Seattle was chartered by the voters of King County as a port district by special
27    election on September 5, 1911, as a special-purpose municipal corporation of the State of
28    Washington. The Port of Seattle Commission is vested with all port powers described by law
29    and governs the Port of Seattle in accordance with state law to fulfill the port's purposes and
30    objectives. Founded in 1911 by a vote of the people, the Port of Seattle is a special-purpose
31    government led by a board of elected Commissioners. Its mission is to benefit the quality of life
32    of King County residents by expanding economic opportunity by advancing trade, travel, and
33    commerce. It  achieves  these  goals   in  an  equitable,  accountable,  and  environmentally
34    sustainable manner.

38    Article I, Section 3, Port of Seattle Commission Bylaws, is hereby repealed.

41            ADOPTED by the Port Commission of the Port of Seattle at a duly noticed public meeting
42    thereof,   held  this  ______  day   of  _______________________________,  2019,  and  duly 
43    authenticated in open session by the signatures of the commissioners voting in favor thereof
44    and the seal of the commission.
