Item Number: 8a_reso Meeting Date: March 24, 2020 1 RESOLUTION NO. 3773 2 3 A RESOLUTION of the Port of Seattle Commission amending the Salary and 4 Benefits Policy Directive for employees not covered by a 5 collective bargaining agreement established by 6 Resolution No. 3739 and subsequently amended and 7 providing an effective date for the amendment 8 retroactive to March 15, 2020. 9 10 WHEREAS, the Port of Seattle Commission has authority pursuant to RCW 53.08.17 to 11 create and fill positions, fix wages, salaries, and establish other benefits of employment including 12 retirement, insurance and similar benefits; and, 13 14 WHEREAS, the port's commitment to supporting employees' health and safety while 15 maintaining business operations and meeting the needs of Port customers is supported by adding 16 a public health emergency paid leave benefit when a public health emergency has been declared; 17 18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Port of Seattle Commission as follows: 19 20 SECTION 1. 21 The Salary and Benefits Policy Directive establishing jobs, pay grades, pay ranges, and pay 22 practices for employees not covered by a collective bargaining agreement and authorizing legally 23 required and other benefits, is hereby amended as follows: 24 25 In Section 5.2(C)(1) Paid Leave, add the following paragraph (m): 26 (m) Public Health Emergency Paid Leave. Public Health Emergency Paid Leave provides paid leave 27 for limited periods of time to employees in specific situations in response to declared public 28 health emergencies like COVID-19. 29 30 SECTION 2. 31 This amendment shall be effective retroactively to March 15, 2020. 32 33 ADOPTED by the Port of Seattle Commission at a duly noticed public meeting 34 thereof, held this 24th day of March, 2020, and duly authenticated in open session by the 35 signatures of the commissioners voting in favor thereof and the seal of the commission. 36 37 38 39 40 41 42 43 44 45 46 47 Port of Seattle Commission Resolution 3773, Salary and Benefit Public Health Emergency Paid Leave Benefit Page 1 of 1
