Dear Port Commissioners, Thank you for the opportunity to provide Public comment. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for the development of Motion 2020- 06 to provide guidance for the Port leadership in prioritizing Port Investments to assist local, statewide recovery for COVID 19 Pandemic centering EQUITY and most VULNERABLE populations and prioritizing community investments like the DUWAMISH VALLEY EQUITY PROGRAM We know the brunt of the economic impact of these public health measures are being borne by those with the least capacity and by those who already vulnerable and impacted in so many ways. Our Duwamish Valley community beside the historical environmental injusticefor years, currently is already facing layoffs, business closures, food insecurity, loss of homes, and childcare. Our community has been surviving in an economy rigged against them, long before COVID-19 arrived Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC), immigrant and refugee communities, workers and low-income people, LGBTQ communities and people with disabilities. Prioritizationof investment should be given to those mostly impacted and is critical in the upcoming months and years in alignmentwith equity centered values. We look forward to working with you for upstream legal and policy interventions to protect our overburdened communities to build resilience and eventually help break the pandemic inequality. We need to re-inforce systems where government, funders with with our communities to invest and to emerge with a more regenerative, people. centered economy where our communities can thrive. Investment in the most impacted, will be a way to create a transformation that benefits everyone. Thank you and be safe.
