8c. Memo AT&T Cellular Services Contract Authorization
COMMISSION AGENDA MEMORANDUM Item No. 8c ACTION ITEM Date of Meeting March 9, 2021 DATE: February 26, 2021 TO: Stephen P. Metruck, Executive Director FROM: Krista Sadler, Director Technology Delivery SUBJECT: AT&T Cellular Services Contract Authorization (Short Form) Amount of this contract: $10,000,000 ACTION REQUESTED Request Commission authorization for the Executive Director to execute a contract for AT&T Cellular Services in an amount not to exceed $10,000,000 for a term of up to ten years. SUMMARY Mobile phones and other mobile devices are important communication tools for many Port of Seattle employees. They are used by every Port organization including emergency response providers, maintenance, and operations for traditional communication, but they are also critical for applications supporting mobile workers such as inspections, security, and customer service. In response to the current COVID-19 in-office work restrictions, a large percentage of our employee population is working remotely, making cellular service even more critical to keep the Port operating and connected. AT&T is one of three different cellular service providers utilized to ensure good coverage in a user's area at a fair price. Cellular service providers frequently change product offerings and contracts with multiple providers allow the individual organizations the best choice of features to meet their business needs.
