SEA Airlines Airport Affairs Committee Seattle Tacoma international Airport June 27, 2011 Port of Seattle Commissioners Bill Bryant, President John Creighton Gael Tarieton Rob Holland Tom Albro RE: item 7a: Part 150 Study Aircraft Noise and Land Use Compatibility Study Update Commission Special Meeting, Federal Way City Hall, June 28, 2011 The Airlines Airport Affairs Committee (AAAC*) of Seattle, which is made up of 30 signatory carriers serving Sea-Tao International Airport, has serious concerns over the proposed Ground Runup Enclosure (GRE) that is being reviewed under the Part 150 Noise Compatibility Study. A group of airline representatives met with Airport staff on June 27th to discuss the potential for a GRE installation, as well as location options and the financial and operational viabilities associated with it. During the meeting, there were several questions raised over the justification and need for that it would place on the airlines a GRE given the nancial burden and operational constraints who underwrite the development, financing, operation, and management of Sea-Tao international The Airport. We encourage the Commission to consider all of the costs associated with a GRE. airlines believe that the GRE may require approximately $50 million of additional investment beyond the cost of the structure itself. The AAAC will conduct a more indepth review of the information discussed at the meeting and submit detailed comments outlining our position during the Public Comment process. However, the AAAC believes it is important to go on the record with our concerns as soon as possible. Thank you for your time and consideration.
