Activities during the month of August 2012 included: Participated in one Century Agenda outreach event. Held a Commission retreat to discuss the Century Agenda. Hosted the 3rd Working Waterfront boat tour and cruise. Attended U.S. Navy and Seafair events. Represented the Port at the Employer Recognition event organized by the Chief of Naval Reserve in Washington, D.C. Met with a King County Councilmember. Met with the Muckleshoot Preservation Committee. Met with the Coalition for America's Gateways & Trade Corridors, Airports Council International-North America and the U.S. Travel Association in Washington, D.C. Provided welcoming remarks at Senator Maria Cantwell's media event on freight mobility (also attended by U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood). Attended the Mercer Corridor Stakeholder Committee event in honor of Senator Patty Murray. Attended the memorial service for former Port of Tacoma Commissioner Jack Fabulich. Hosted a group of Iraqi students on a Port tour.
