MeetingMW
Washington State Senate

November 27, 2013

Tom Albro, Commissioner
Port of Seattle
PO Box 1209
Seattle, WA 98111

Dear Commissioner Albro:

We urge the Port of Seattle and its publically elected Commissioners to remain
neutral and not enter into a divisive court battle against SeaTac Proposition 1, the
Good jobs initiative which has just been certified by the King County Elections.
This measure was fully debated and discussed during the election cycle, and the
voters have spoken.

We understand that Alaska Airlines and some of the businesses located at the
airport may have the private resources and political ideology to continue to this
contest in the courts. That seems to be an unfortunate waste of resources and
community good will, and it would be most unfortunate if the Port of Seattle
would participate in such a negative strategy.

The Port of Seattle did notjoin the opponents of Proposition 1 to challenge the
signature gathering petition's place on the ballot and appropriately did not take,
and so far has not taken, a position on Proposition 1. That decision was a wise and
productive one and we urge you, in the strongest terms, to maintain your position
of neutrality if this case now moves to a court challenge.

Using any public dollars to join such a challenge in any venue would be most
disappointing to us. Of course we would be happy to discuss this issue with you
at any time. We hope that full implementation of Proposition 1 will take place

without delay and look forward to a future of good jobs and a stronger economy
