Minutes Exhibit G Port Commission Regular Meeting f June 26' 2013 Commission-Public-Records From: Spencer BarrettSent: Tuesday, June 26, 2018 3:59 PM To: CommissionPublicRecords Subject: Seatac Prayer room Hearing Categories: Public Comment Dear Si rs: I am writing in support of the new interfaith prayer room at Seatac Hospital. As a christian, having a place to center my focus on God is very important. I pray before every flight that God will bless the people and keep them safe. Some people at the airport are going through tragedy, or are experiencing a loss, and having a place to decompress is vital. Emergencies don't happen often at airports, but having a place available when they do can make a big difference in how people of faith, as well as others, process the circumstances. Years ago I had to travel by air to bury my father. I found my self overwhelmed with grief and simply could not stop crying. I am certain I'm not the only person that has traveled for such a purpose. A place to stop and gather myself would have been invaluable. Thank you for the foresight of such and effort. A place to allow people to pray and to provide space for the emblems of various religion beliefs will be be an asset for the Seatac airport, city and surrounding communities. Sincerely, Rev. Spencer Francis Barrett - Presiding Elder of the Pacific Northwest Conference, Fifth District African Methodist Episcopal Church 4603 82nd St. Lakewood, Washington 98409 Cell 816-695-0088
