Minutes Exhibit B
J reves v= . Exhibit B Port Commission Regular Meeting . of January 8, 2019 My name is Russell Stevenson.| live in Seattle and operate my. . business in the City of SeaTac. | am an event promoter of MTB races at N SeaTac Park, a Port owned property that has recently been targeted for development. | hold a lease with the City of SeaTac. | am one for 5 different user groups that occupy N SeaTac park on a weekly basis. My Wed evening MTB events attract an avg. 200 cyclists nightly, from ages 5 -75, for 20 weeks a year. 2019 will be our 6th consecutive season. Our impact on this piece of community land has been nothing but positive. The relationship with the City and other park user groups continues to strengthen. We foster parents and children to come and participate in healthy exercise and forest stewardship. The cycling scene is vibrant here, engaging the surrounding residence, local businesses and schools. We are stewards of this space, having helped reactivate what was once a "dump". | strongly urge the Port to find an alternative to the SeaTac Airport Master Plan that would break it's lease with the City and reacquire this property for Airport parking development. One of the SAMP primary objectives is to reduce environmental impacts. As the "S" stands for in SAMP,building parking lots on an active recreational corridor and green space is not sustainable practice. The Port's own Airport Community Ecology Fund(ACE) was build to protect such green spaces and long term forest stewardship within the communities the airport impacts most. None are more close to the runways than N SeaTac Park. Furthermore, this property was originally acquired(with federal money) as a noise buffer for runway 3. Cement and storage buildings will only amplify aircraft noise. | would hope the Port understand the social value of this community space outweighs the potential development value. | offer some parking alternatives - 1) Build a multi-level parking garage on the existing Employee parking lot to the direct north of Hyw. 518. 2) Utilize existing parking space to the west of Des Monies Memorial Dr. 3) Develop the unused Airport land to the south of 188th, the closed Tyee golf course and surrounding area. Thank you
