Item Number: 8a_motion Meeting Date: January 7, 2020 1 MOTION 2020-02: 2 A MOTION OF THE PORT OF SEATTLE COMMISSION 3 4 adopting the charter of a Port of Seattle Commission 5 Biometrics Special Committee to review the proposals of 6 the Biometrics Working Group and Advisory Group and 7 develop new policies or update existing policies governing 8 the use of public-facing biometric technology at port 9 facilities, as needed, for Port of Seattle Commission 10 consideration. 11 12 PROPOSED 13 JANUARY 7, 2020 14 15 TEXT OF THE MOTION 16 17 Through this motion, the commission adopts the attached charter of the Biometrics Special 18 Committee to review proposals developed by the Biometrics Working Group and Advisory Group, 19 established by Motion 2019-13 on December 10, 2019, and provide recommendations to the 20 Port of Seattle Commission. The committee shall develop policies or update existing port policies 21 that govern the use of pubic-facing biometric technology at port facilites, as needed and based 22 on the proposals from the Biometrics Working Group and Advisory Group, for the Port of Seattle 23 Commission consideration. The committee shall exist until such policies are developed or 24 updated for Port of Seattle Commission consideration. 25 26 The Biometric Working Group and Advisory Group proposals that govern the use of public-facing 27 biometric technology at port facilities shall be submitted to the committee in advance of the 28 commission for review. The committee's recommendations to the commission are due by the 29 end of the first quarter of 2020.
