Minutes Exhibit B
From: laura gibbons To: Commission-Public-Records Subject: Re: [EXTERNAL] Testimony at 4/28 Port meeting Date: Tuesday, April 28, 2020 1:00:18 PM Attachments: image001.png I'm sorry I could not tell when I was muted or not. I'll get better at this! I appreciated your patience. Here are my comments, or at least a version of what I said today. This is Laura Gibbons, a member of the climate justice group 350 Seattle, and a Seattle resident. I am concerned about the impact of aviation on global warming, and I ask that the business plan presented for returning to "normal" in item 7b not be a return status quo. I am particularly upset by the current operation of so called "ghost planes" as required by the current federal stimulus package. I urge the Port to push all airlines serving SeaTac to request an exception to the rule that they fly nearly empty planes. In addition to the needless carbon emissions, the noise and other emissions disproportionately affect low-income communities and people of color, which makes flying nearly empty planes an environmental injustice. Thank you for attention to these matters. thank you, Laura Gibbons On Monday, April 27, 2020, 9:25:21 AM PDT, Commission-Public-Recordswrote: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thank you for signing up to give public comment via Skype at the April 28, 2020, Port of Seattle Commission meeting.
