Beecher's Cheese is the first winner of our new Small Business Environmental Excellence Award 4 Environmental Performance Distributed nearly 50,000 lbs. (800 meals/week) of donated Airport food to local community Reduced Airport solid waste costs by avoiding $3,400 in landfill disposal fees Since 2006, the food bank helped Airport tenants donate over 229,000 lbs. or 183,000 meals to families within neighboring airport communities. Des Moines Area Food Bank provides both environmental and social benefits for our communities 5 Environmental Performance (Honor Roll) Donated: 38,798 lbs. of airport food $12,000 and 40 backpacks to Des Moines Area Food Bank's Weekend Backpack Program 60 used tables and chairs from office and restaurant renovations Recycled 45 tons of glass and 23 tons of cardboard from Airport warehouse, and reused 7,000 pallets Replaced disposable service ware with compostable and/or recyclable alternatives HMSHost is advancing their sustainability program to include construction waste as well as terminal waste 6 Environmental Performance Replaced over 200,000 "to-go" bags for food with reusable liner-less trays Recycled 30,000 plastic chowder bags Compost (food waste) and recycle back-of-house restaurant waste Conserve water by thawing frozen products in walk-in coolers vs. running under cool water. Web pages are fluid in nature, and the exact positioning of PDF text creates presentation problems.
PDFs that are full page graphics, or scanned pages are generally unable to be made accessible, In these cases, viewing whatever plain text could be extracted is the only alternative.
