APPROVED MINUTES 
COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING JANUARY 17, 2012 
The Port of Seattle Commission met in a special meeting Tuesday, January 17, 2012, in the fourth
floor board rooms of the Seattle World Trade Center, Seattle, Washington, for the purpose of
holding a Commission retreat to discuss operational issues.   Commissioners Albro, Bryant,
Creighton, Holland, and Tarleton were present. 
CALL TO ORDER 
The special meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Gael Tarleton, Commission President. 
The following topics were reviewed and discussed at the Commission retreat with the assistance of
Kevin Bush, facilitator, Teams & Leaders: 
Communications exercise; 
Roles and responsibilities of Commission officers; 
Posting Commissioners' travel, expenses, and other information on the Port website; 
Commission ethics policy and Port travel and credit card policies; 
Portfolios and outside board assignments based on the Century Agenda goals; 
Chief Executive Officer 2012 Goals & Objectives; 
Commission meeting issues (work sessions, policy discussions, public comment); and 
Commission office staffing. 
The special meeting was recessed at 11:00 a.m. and reconvened at 11:15 a.m. The special
meeting was again recessed at 12:25 p.m. for lunch and reconvened at 12:55 p.m. 
ADJOURNMENT 
There being no further business, the special meeting was adjourned at 4:00 p.m.

PDF files are created with text and images are placed at an exact position on a page of a fixed size.
Web pages are fluid in nature, and the exact positioning of PDF text creates presentation problems.
PDFs that are full page graphics, or scanned pages are generally unable to be made accessible, In these cases, viewing whatever plain text could be extracted is the only alternative.
