PORT OF SEATTLE MEMORANDUM COMMISSION AGENDA Item No. 7a STAFF BRIEFING Date of Meeting March 11, 2014 DATE: March 4, 2014 TO: Tay Yoshitani, Chief Executive Officer FROM: Michael Burke, Director Seaport Lease & Asset Management Curtis Stahlecker, Capital Project Manager SUBJECT: Terminal 18 Dock Rehabilitation Project (CIP #C 800600) Briefing SYNOPSIS This briefing is to describe the current physical condition of the Terminal 18 dock and provide Commission with an understanding of the future rehabilitation work planned for the facility. Staff will return to the Commission on March 18, 2014, for authorization for design related to the rehabilitation of deteriorated under dock structural elements at the Terminal 18 facility. BACKGROUND The Terminal 18 dock is approximately 6,020 feet long and was constructed in seven stages between 1963 and 1982. In early 2012 a condition assessment was completed for this dock as well as the other major dock facilities owned by the Port of Seattle. The Terminal 18 condition assessment indicates that a number of the under dock structural elements of the facility are in need of rehabilitation, including the pile caps, piles, deck panels and sections of the toe wall. Port staff will return March 18 for authorization to begin design to rehabilitate the more significantly deteriorated sections of the dock. ATTACHMENTS TO THIS BRIEFING Computer slide presentation.
