From: Tom NonNaIk [mailto:TNonivalk@visitseattle.org] Sent: Monday, August 05, 2013 10:22 AM To: Kilburn, Jane Subject: Tunnel Funding Commissioner Albro, I urge you to approve funding for the new SR 99 tunnel. Funding for this project will benefit the free-flow of trade and facilitate the growth of tourism in our city and region. By ensuring that we rebuild and retain another north-south route through the city, we will keep freight and other industrial goods moving between the industrial areas while simultaneously preserving surrounding neighborhoods for visitor activities. This funding will add and support trade and tourism jobs and will stimulate economic impact throughout our region. Family-wage jobs that are dependent upon efficient trade corridors will benefit. Tourism jobs in the waterfront neighborhood will be supported by an accessible, pedestrianfriendly waterfront. Seattle's tourism community is grateful for the funding agreement between the Port of Seattle and Washington State. We applaud the Port for its Century Agenda vision, and for the State of Washington's willingness to provide funding to the port to receive these funds a year early. Thank you for your consideration of this critical regional initiative.
