Subject: Sale and Transfer of BNSF Eastside Rail Corridor

My name is Mike Deller. I am Washington State Director for the Trust for Public
Land. Prior to this role I was a bank executive which followed my role as the
Executive Director for the Port of Everett.

I am here to support the sale and transfer of the BNSF Eastside Rail Corridor by
the Port of Seattle to King County.

The Trust for Public Land is a national non-prot that conserves land for people to
enjoy as parks, gardens and other natural places, ensuring livable communities for
generations to come.

We bring national expertise to local opportunities (including trail corridors) and
represent the best in conservation/recreation strategies and practices. Some of
those services include:
0 Vision, Flaming and GIS services
Conservation Transactions
Conservation Finance
Park Design and Development
Climate Smart Communities

An example of our collaborative work is next door to the Port ofces at the
Olympic Sculpture Park

We have been in dialogue for over a year with the eastside cities, King and
Snohomish Counties, Puget Sound Regional Council, Sound Transit, Urban Land
Institute, The Port of Seattle, Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust and others
about our services and to discuss opportunities to lead the Visioning/GIS,
community outreach and deploy our other TPL tools.

Our template is to work with governments, communities, and associations to
collaboratively generate conservation/recreation ideas and solutions. An example
was the King County Greenprint we led several years ago that still serves as a road
map for the county. We have also led many other rail corridor conversions around
the country and look forward to working with all the stakeholders using our local
and national resources to realize the potential corridor opportunities.

I encourage your swift decision to approve the sale and transfer of the BNSF
Eastside Corridor to King County today so we can all begin our work to establish
this regional asset. Thank you for the opportunity to comment.

Limitations of Translatable Documents

PDF files are created with text and images are placed at an exact position on a page of a fixed size.
Web pages are fluid in nature, and the exact positioning of PDF text creates presentation problems.
PDFs that are full page graphics, or scanned pages are generally unable to be made accessible, In these cases, viewing whatever plain text could be extracted is the only alternative.
