PORT OF SEATTLE MEMORANDUM COMMISSION AGENDA Item No. 4a Date of Meeting June 5, 2012 DATE: May 29, 2012 TO: Tay Yoshitani, Chief Executive Officer FROM: Mary Gin Kennedy, Director of Commission Services SUBJECT: Special Order of Business Commission Activities Report At the first Commission meeting of every month, the Commission will note its major activities of the previous month. Activities during the month of May 2012 included: Participated in 7 Century Agenda outreach activities. Sent a letter to the Seattle City Council and the King County Council about the arena and were interviewed by the media about the Port's concerns. Held separate meetings with the King County Executive, the Mayor of Seattle and two Seattle City Councilmembers. Held a joint meeting with the Washington State Transportation Commission. Testified at a joint committee meeting of the House Labor & Workforce Development and the Senate Labor, Commerce & Consumer Protection Committees on the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport's concessions program. Attended and made presentations at the Washington Public Ports Association spring meeting. Participated in a panel exploring the "Role of Businesses and Trade Alliance in Human Trafficking." Participated in the Trade Development Alliance/Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce Inter-City Study Mission to Atlanta and Savannah. Participated in the Washington Council on International Trade Fly-In (WCIT) to Washington, D.C. Participated in Congressman Adam Smith's "Ninth District Day" in Washington, D.C. Attended the Fishermen's Memorial Service. Judged at the 2012 Maritime Festival Celebrity Chowder Cook-Off.
