PORT OF SEATTLE MEMORANDUM COMMISSION AGENDA Item No. 4b Date of Meeting September 12, 2011 DATE: September 1, 2011 TO: Tay Yoshitani, Chief Executive Officer FROM: Ryan McFarland, Public Affairs Policy Analyst SUBJECT: Special Order of Business: Presentation of US flag flown over Capitol on Port Centennial One hundred years ago, on September 5, 1911, the voters of King County approved the creation of the Port of Seattle. Tom Young, Congressman Dave Reichert's Deputy District Director, will present the Port of Seattle a United States flag flown over the US Capitol on September 5, 2011, in honor of the Port's Centennial. Members of Congress may request the flying of flags over the US Capitol to honor special occasions for constituents in their districts. Congressman Reichert is serving his fourth term representing Washington State's Eighth Congressional District, which includes portions of King County. He serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, with appointments to the Trade and Health subcommittees.
