Michael has 28 years of experience in the fire industry, joining the San Jose California Fire Department in 1981 and working his way through the ranks to serve as Battalion Chief since 1996. During his tenure at San Jose Fire Department, he has worn numerous hats, ranging from Firefighter, Engineer, Fire Prevention Inspector, and Fire Captain. Michael has several career accomplishments under his belt, a few highlights include receiving the Mayor's Pride of the City Award for the Telestaff/Minimum Staffing Program project, he was the Fire Coordinator for the Urban Area Security Initiative Program, Department Safety Officer, and served on the FEMA Task Force 3. Michael received his B.A. in 1994 in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and earned a Master's Degree in Public Administration from San Jose State University in 2003.
