PORT OF SEATTLE MEMORANDUM COMMISSION AGENDA Item No. 5b Date of Meeting February 8, 2011 DATE: February 2, 2011 TO: Tay Yoshitani, Chief Executive Officer FROM: Kim Ramsey, Labor Relations Manager SUBJECT: Extension of Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Port of Seattle and the ILWU Local 9 representing Aviation Operations and Security. REQUESTED ACTION: Request for authorization for the Chief Executive Officer to execute an Extension to the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Port of Seattle and the ILWU Local #9 representing Aviation Operations and Security for a ninety (90) day term from January 1, 2011 to March 31, 2011. BACKGROUND: This agreement currently covers 107 employees in the Aviation Division, Landside Operations. This agreement is for a ninety (90) day term. The underlying contract expired July 31, 2010 and prior extension agreement expired on October 31, 2010. Bargaining resumed in early January 2011 following a hiatus during the Commission's consideration of the 2011 Salary and Benefits resolution. Negotiations are expected to be complete by March 31, 2011. This extension agreement creates no associated costs to the Port. SCOPE OF THE AGREEMENT: Term of the Agreement January 1, 2011 March 31, 2011 OTHER DOCUMENTS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS REQUEST: Second extension to the 2007 2010 Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Port of Seattle and the ILWU Local 9 representing Aviation Operations and Security personnel.
