DATE: April 13, 2010

TO: Tay Yoshitani, Chief Executive Officer

FROM: Colleen Wilson, Chief of Police, Port of Seattle Police Departmena/f)

SUBJECT: Special Order of Business Recognition of the 2010 Officer of the Year

The officer of the year award was established to recognize those who have demonstrated
exceptional achievement, the highest standards of competence and professionalism, and shown a
genuine commitment to their profession, the department, and the public we serve.

Officer Clem Jimenez has been selected by his
peers as the 2010 Officer of the Year. He is a 21
"year veteran of the Department who has held a variety of positions, including detective, police
.
diver, field training officer and bike team.

Clem is described as selfmotivated and willing to help others;
someone who takes initiative and
is conscientious in the performance of his duties. His nomination describes him as the "go-to-
guy" for his patrol squad". His supervisor indicates that Clem displays a "quiet condence and
leadership every day".

Clem has received several written compliments from the public, too. Seeing that luggage was
returned to an owner as far away as Spain and digging lost glasses out of sixty feet of water have
brought praise and thanks for Officer Jimenez. A handicapped citizen described him as
"exceptionally kind" and said he would "gladly advertise the Port of Seattle and Officer
Jimenez"!
