I'm sorry I could not tell when I was muted or not. I'll get better at this! I appreciated your patience.
Here are my comments, or at least a version of what I said today.
This is Laura Gibbons, a member of the climate justice group 350 Seattle, and a Seattle
resident.
I am concerned about the impact of aviation on global warming, and I ask that the business
plan presented for returning to "normal" in item 7b not be a return status quo.
I am particularly upset by the current operation of so called "ghost planes" as required by the
current federal stimulus package. I urge the Port to push all airlines serving SeaTac to request
an exception to the rule that they fly nearly empty planes.
In addition to the needless carbon emissions, the noise and other emissions disproportionately
affect low-income communities and people of color, which makes flying nearly empty planes
an environmental injustice.
Thank you for attention to these matters.
thank you,
Laura Gibbons

Thank you for signing up to give public comment via Skype at the April 28, 2020, Port of Seattle
Commission meeting.
Please plan to join us via your mobile or laptop device on Skype or call into the number provided below at
11:45 a.m. PST on Wednesday April 28, 2020. A member of port staff will join the call to take a roll call of
the names we have listed, to take down names of any new callers, and to go over the procedure. Please
plan to call from a location with as little background noise as possible.
You should expect to be on the line for between 30 minutes to an hour as we dispose of preliminary
business and hear from other speakers. While it's impossible for us to predict how many people will
comment on April 28, we expect individual comment time to be limited to two minutes and all rules of
order and decorum will apply as usual.
If you have any questions please let us know. We appreciate your dedication to public health and your
interest in participating in the Port of Seattle Commission meeting.

Hi, this is Laura Gibbons and I would like to speak at the 4/28 meeting on the topic of exemptions for
flying nearly empty planes from SEATAC.

Many thanks,
