Minutes Exhibit E
From: laura gibbons To: Commission-Public-Records Subject: Re: [EXTERNAL] May 12 Port meeting Date: Tuesday, May 12, 2020 1:36:55 PM This is approximately what I said today: This is Laura Gibbons, a member of the climate justice group 350 Seattle, and a Seattle resident. I'm happy to see that with the FlyHealthy@SEA planning (Item 9A) you are thinking of our community's immediate health by setting up SEATAC to minimize the transmission of the virus that causes COVID-19. I hope that you will also think about our medium-term health by reducing noise and emissions exposures as planes land and take off from SEATAC. These adverse effects fall disproportionately on low-income communities and people of color, an environmental injustice. For our long-term health, indeed for the survival of all humans, we can't return to previous levels of flying, much less enact the growth you are planning. There is no way we can meet our regional or global climate goals without reducing aviation. Thank you for hearing my concerns. I hope you will act on them. Thank you, Laura On Monday, May 11, 2020, 8:18:28 AM PDT, Commission-Public-Recordswrote: Thank you for signing up to give public comment via Skype at the May 12, 2020, Port of Seattle Commission meeting.
