I find it encouraging that one of the Century goals is to "Be the greenest, and most energy efficient port in North America". Unfortunately, I think the comparison aspect of that goal makes it useless. Ports are among the highest producers of carbon emissions and other pollution of any institutions, and Seattle should be setting clear, measurable, science-based targets, not loose comparisons. As port commissioners, I imagine you have read and understandthe gravity of the climate crisis. There are no magic pills, silver bullets, or aliens coming to save us from collapse if we do not save ourselves. Take courage and use the power you have been given by the people to revise the Century Agenda and make an actual difference before its too late. Will you look back and wish you had worked harder to make more money for the ruling class? Or will you take pride in the fact that you protected humanity from their suicidal greed and corruption? -- IAN MCCLUSKEY - NABCEP PV INSTALLATION PROFESSIONAL (206) 790-2586 Linkedin |twitter
