Environmental Performance: SSA Marine
For voluntary installing LED lighting upgrades
at Terminal 18, making use of Seattle City Light
incentives
Achieved 65% energy reduction while improving
lighting quality, improving worker safety, and
reducing off-site light impacts on residential
communities and natural habitats
Invested in state-of-the-art system to gain longer-
term benefits and more efficient maintenance and
operation

Environmental Education & Outreach: Dirt
Corps LLC
For supporting Port environmental, equity, and
environmental justice goals through education
and outreach programs for adults, youth, and
minorities
Implemented a pilot program to teach shoreline
restoration skills along the Duwamish River and Elliot
Bay to over 80 youth and adults
Trained youth and adults in leadership, aquatic
horticulture, shoreline restoration, salmon habitat
and restoration, and environmental justice

Maritime Small Business Recognition
Environmental Education & Outreach:
Orcasound Hydrophone Network
A small non-profit organization, for convening
13 member organizations in the Puget Sound
region to deploy hydrophones and document
orca sounds
Data advances understanding of the stresses of
underwater noise to Southern Resident Killer
Whales and is shared with the public to learn about
orca populations and noise impacts
Their role has helped to consolidate the impacts of
other small organizations that track Orca sounds
and noise impacts upon them

Reduced hangar energy consumption 1M kWh (70%
cut), cut ghg emissions 11 tons, and lowered energy
utility costs $60,000/yr.
Leveraged BPA/Port energy incentive rebate to
offset project costs 33%
Eliminated 22 million plastic straws & stir sticks from
inflight beverage service

performance tires, and recycling waste
Converted remaining three vehicles from gasoline to
propane, cutting ghg emissions by 164 tons
Used silica-based tires to improve fuel economy and
extend tire lifespan
Recycled ~50 lbs./wk. through passenger and
employee recycling programs

A small and woman owned business, for
reducing supply waste, donating to local food
banks, and using compostable packaging
Reusable boxes reduced airport supply shipment

through socially responsible Pink Umbrella Fund
Improved product packaging recoverability with

Limitations of Translatable Documents

PDF files are created with text and images are placed at an exact position on a page of a fixed size.
Web pages are fluid in nature, and the exact positioning of PDF text creates presentation problems.
PDFs that are full page graphics, or scanned pages are generally unable to be made accessible, In these cases, viewing whatever plain text could be extracted is the only alternative.
