EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This presentation is in response to the Commission motion of September 2018 requesting
periodic briefings regarding the construction status of the International Arrivals Facility (IAF).
This briefing will cover the cost and schedule status of the IAF program, in addition to an update
from Clark Construction on construction progress.
The IAF's scope includes a new 450,000 square foot arrivals building designed with Customs and
Border Protection (CBP) input so it can process 2,600 passengers during the busiest hour of the
day, a connecting international corridor, and a 760' pedestrian walkway. It creates 20
international gates and includes seven bag claim devices and forty CBP office processing
podiums.
As of September 2020, IAF building construction is nearly completed in several areas.
Punchlisting of the CBP Administrative Offices is underway. Baggage Handling System testing is
progressing and air handling units are being commissioned. Security Checkpoint and Secondary
Screening equipment has been delivered and installation is ongoing. Finishes installation in Areas
1 and 2 is wrapping up and is progressing in Areas 3 and 4.
Airside, Pods A, B and C construction is also nearing completion with carpet being laid in Pods A
and B. Pod D structural steel is in progress. Pedestrian walkway structural steel is complete and
curtain walls are nearly complete at the support cores and V-piers. Inside the walkway, work is
underway on all vertical conveyance including escalators, elevators, and the moving travelator.
United Stations Green Building Council (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design
(LEED) efforts are tracking to LEED V4 Silver certification with twenty-five design phase points
already submitted and approved. The Port will continue to work with the Clark/O'Brien360 team
in this pursuit.
