Item Number: 8k_order Meeting Date: January 26, 2021 1 ORDER 2021-03: 2 AN ORDER OF THE PORT OF SEATTLE COMMISSION 3 4 To approve execution of the Executive Director 5 employment contract 6 7 PROPOSED 8 JANUARY, 26, 2021 9 10 INTRODUCTION 11 Since 1911, the Port of Seattle has grown from a fledgling harbor to a multi-faceted 12 organization that runs a world-class seaport and international airport, supporting tourism and 13 commercial fishing industries, partnering in building road and rail infrastructure, and leading in 14 environmental and sustainability efforts. Yet, our values remain rooted in serving the citizens of 15 King County by creating economic opportunity for all, stewarding our environment responsibly, 16 partnering with surrounding communities, conducting ourselves transparently and holding 17 ourselves accountable. 18 19 All authority of the Port of Seattle is vested with the Commission in its actions as a public body 20 under RCW 53. Five Commissioners, elected at-large by the voters of King County, serve four- 21 year terms to govern the Port, lead all intergovernmental functions, and oversee the Executive 22 Director. The Commission vests authority with the Executive Director and delineates 23 Commission and ED responsibilities through the Delegation of Responsibility and Authority. 24 25 The Port of Seattle Commission wishes to recognize the Port of Seattle Executive Director, 26 Steve Metruck, for his steady-handed stewardship of the Port over the last three years. We look 27 forward to his service over the next three years and pass this order today to approve the 28 execution of his second employment contract with the Port of Seattle. 29 30 TEXT OF THE ORDER 31 32 The Port Commission hereby approves the attached employment contract with the Port of 33 Seattle Executive Director Steve Metruck 34 35 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ATTACHED 36 Port of Seattle Executive Director Employment Contract 2021-2024.
