Public Comment - Exhibit F
From: Tyrell Hedlund To: Commission-Public-Records Subject: [EXTERNAL] Public Comments Port Agenda Item 11b Date: Monday, January 11, 2021 11:03:47 AM WARNING: External email. Links or attachments may be unsafe. Dear Port of Seattle Commissioners -- I am writing to comment on agenda item 11b, "2020 Northwest Ports Clean Air Strategy and Port of Seattle's Climate and Air Action Plan." I urge you to consider not just facilities emissions -- but emissions from fuel burned by planes travelling in and out of Sea-Tac -- when setting goals for GHG emissions reductions. Almost all of the emissions from Sea-Tac come from fuel burned by airplanes travelling in and out of Sea-Tac. Reducing emissions from facility operations while laying the groundwork for massive increases in air traffic is meaningless: emissions from the increased traffic will outweigh any reductions many, many times over. We now have nine years to cut our GHG emissions in half to avoid the most catastrophic effects of the climate crisis. There is no time for incremental measures, nor any leeway for increased emissions. You must take bold steps toward aviation degrowth, and at the very least halt any expansion or increases in air traffic. Thank you, Tyrell Hedlund South Seattle
