Public Comment - Exhibit C
From: Ian McCluskey To: Commission-Public-Records Subject: [EXTERNAL] 12/7 meeting testimony - Ian McCluskey Date: Monday, December 7, 2020 12:16:54 PM WARNING: External email. Links or attachments may be unsafe. Hi Port team, Please sign me up for testimony at the meeting tomorrow. My name is Ian McCluskey. I'm a small business owner, born and raised in Seattle. I now sit on the Snohomish County Climate Action Advisory Committee, and volunteer with a number of organizations in our area to support communities affected by environmental degradation. On that Advisory Committee, we are learning from King County's Strategic Climate Action Plan, which matches the Port's stated priorities to"support comprehensive proposals for sector-specific and economy-wide solutions to address the climate crisis with legislation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other harmful toxic pollutants while providing flexibility to respond to changing market conditions and technological advances." The Port also states its intent to reduce noise and ultrafine particle exposures. That said, your other goal to increase air travel into and out of Seattle is entirely incompatible. There is no legal nor moral grounds for your general assumption that airports like SeaTac must accommodate the FAA's increasing flightpredictions. In fact, based on the recent airport expansion rejections in the UK, I expect that assumption will reverse quickly this decade. Will you be leaders in adaptation, or will you squander political and financial resources on outdated thought processes about infinite growth?
