Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant (IWTP)
OverviewS 146th St
Runoff with low Biochemical Oxygen Demand Ave S
(BOD) discharges to the Puget Sound th 24
Runoff with high BOD discharges to King
County Sewer District for secondary treatment
The Port has diverted 11.6 million pounds of
BOD from the Puget Sound since 2007

King County Permit Changes
S 146th StHigh BOD discharges have resulted in
operational impacts to King County South
Treatment Plant th 24 Ave S
King County BOD limits will be reduced to
25% of the current permit levels on the
next permit cycle (2026)
New permit limits will require pretreatment
onsite at STIA before discharge
to King Country Sewer District

Project Overview
Purpose:
Install a pre-treatment system and upgrade the existing systems at the Industrial
Wastewater Treatment Plant (IWTP) to reduce high-BOD effluent.
Scope:
Install pre-treatment system
Install effluent discharge systems
Install new pumps and systems to support stormwater reuse
Establish storage system to facilitate pre-treatment
Install support infrastructure (new building, controls, HVAC, lagoon mixing, etc.)

Limitations of Translatable Documents

PDF files are created with text and images are placed at an exact position on a page of a fixed size.
Web pages are fluid in nature, and the exact positioning of PDF text creates presentation problems.
PDFs that are full page graphics, or scanned pages are generally unable to be made accessible, In these cases, viewing whatever plain text could be extracted is the only alternative.
