  • THIS CONTINUES OUR LONG STANDING PARTNERSHIP WITH THE MARITIME HIGH SCHOOL, DELIVERING HIGH QUALITY EDUCATION AND INTRODUCTIONS TO MARITIME OPPORTUNITIES TO YOUTH IN THE HIGH LINE PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT
  • THE SCHOOL IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN DES MOINES
  • THERE ARE ABOUT 80 STUDENTS CURRENTLY ENROLLED, WITH 50% IDENTIFYING AS BIPOC
  • MARITIME HIGH SCHOOL CONTINUES TO DO VERY INTENTIONAL OUTREACH TO DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES OF COLOR AND COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE HIGH LINE SCHOOL DISTRICT
  • AND WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO ANOTHER GREAT YEAR PARTNERING WITH THEM AS THEY INTRODUCE
  • THEY CURRENTLY HAVE A FRESHMAN CLASS AND A SOPHOMORE CLASS, AND AS THOSE SOPHOMORES MATRICULATE INTO JUNIORS, THEY WILL BE SPENDING MORE TIME AT DIFFERENT WORK SITES AND CONTINUING THEIR CONNECTIONS WITH MARITIME INDUSTRY MENTORS

  • THE GOVERNOR SIGNED THAT BILL ON APRIL 25 IMMEDIATELY AFTER IT PASSED, AND IT IMMEDIATELY BECAME LAW UPON SIGNING THERE
  • OTHER WERE MEASURES, AS NOTED, THAT DIDN'T GET AS MUCH COVERAGE RELATING TO THE MARKETING OF FIREARMS AND HOW THOSE FIREARMS ARE MARKETED, ESPECIALLY TOWARDS YOUTH, AS WELL AS A POLICE PURSUIT BILL THAT PASSED EARLIER ON IN SESSION WITH PUBLIC CONTRACTING
