Dear Commissioners,
The Land Stewardship Plan's greenwashing cannot hide the catastrophic environmental and health
impacts inherent in a plan to pave over cooling, air-purifying forests that protect polluted frontline
communities. I support the Defenders of Highline Forest and ask the Port to withdraw its plans to
industrially develop the forests it owns and stop acquiring forested land for development
(tinyurl.com/defendHighlinePark).
Riverton Heights (27 acres): Clearcutting this forest for two huge cargo warehouses is an affront to this
community which recently lost 100 acres of forest for a jail, parking lots and cargo space.
North SeaTac Park (110 acres): Plans to develop this forest are moving ahead, including the removal of
17-acre Tub Lake Bog buffer forest. This forest protects one of the last peat bogs in King County and an
important aquifer recharge resource for the region. The Port has a history of destroying wetlands and
this does not appear to have changed.
KC Public Health confirmed people in airport communities live shorter, sicker lives. Negative health
impacts stretch for ten miles in a direct correlation with proximity to SeaTac. The report recommends
expanding trees near SeaTac.
This plan must be revised to protect these forests and those near them.

This is not just about the trees. King County Public Health has confirmed that people in airport
communities live shorter, sicker lives. Negative health impacts stretch for ten miles in a direct
correlation with proximity to SeaTac. To offset this, the report recommends planting, protecting, and
preserving trees near SeaTac.
This plan will be a detriment to the public health of residents in the area and will drastically reduce
forest habitat. It must be revised to protect these forests and those near them.
Sincerely,
Ellen Arnstein

I would like to add that I deeply care about the children living in the communities surrounding the park.
They deserve to live in healthy spaces, with full access to their parks and as many trees surrounding them
as possible. We have to stop choosing profits over protecting our children.

Dear Commissioners,
I oppose the Land Stewardship Plan which will destroy and pave over irreplaceable forests and
established natural ecosystems that protect already-polluted frontline communities.
I support the Defenders of Highline Forest and ask the Port to withdraw its plans to industrially “develop”
(=destroy) existing forests and to stop acquiring forested land for development
(tinyurl.com/defendHighlinePark).
Riverton Heights (27 acres): Clearcutting this forest for two huge cargo warehouses is unacceptable. To
do this in a community which recently lost 100 acres of forest for a jail, parking lots and cargo space is
unacceptable.
North SeaTac Park (110 acres): It is unacceptable to “develop” (=destroy) this forest and remove the 17-
acre Tub Lake Bog buffer forest. This forest protects one of the last peat bogs in King County -
irreplaceable as the last, and irreplaceable as itself, irreplaceable as an existingcarbon sequestration
resource - and as an important aquifer recharge resource for the region.
The Port’s history of destroying wetlands is unsustainable, indefensible, and cannot continue.
KC Public Health confirmed that people in airport communities live shorter, less healthy lives. Negative
health impacts stretch for ten miles in a direct correlation with proximity to SeaTac. The current plan will
only exacerbate this. The report recommends expanding trees near SeaTac, not destroying more.
I respectfully demand this plan be revised to protect these forests as the life-sustaining ecosystems they
are, and to honestly account for their value to all the lives that depend on our remaining natural spaces.
No more forest destruction.

Dear Commissioners,
It is hard for me to understand, especially with everything that is known about climate change, that you
wouldn’t be doing everything in your power to preserve the city and county’s quickly dwindling green
space. How is this land stewardship? We are lucky to live somewhere so green and healthy and it is
important to preserve it. Growth can happen while maintaining green space. Please do not approve this.
Please stop destroying green space. It is deeply short sighted and frankly cruel.
The Land Stewardship Plan's greenwashing cannot hide the catastrophic environmental and health

communities. I support the Defenders of Highline Forest and ask the Port to withdraw its plans to

Dear Commissioners,
The very last thing we need to be doing right now as humans is destroying forest habitat. Please set an
example!
This forest protects one of the last peat bogs in King County and
an important aquifer recharge resource for the region. The Port has a history of destroying wetlands
and this does not appear to have changed.

Thank you,
Paula

Commissioners, Fred and Ryan in particular,
I’m rather concerned and disappointed the Port is still pursuing this plan to destroy so much forest in an
already impacted area. I typically look to the port as a leader in sustainability and environmental
stewardship. Is there anything you are doing to course correct here?
Thanks,
Andy

Dear Commissioners,
I live by SeaTac park. The summers grow hotter and become unbearable in this area. Without the trees
we have been left with, it will become unlivable.
I vote, own property and pay property taxes here.
And I really don’t have time to join a protest and cuff myself to a tree, but I will.
