Box 1209 Seattle, Washington 98111 www.portseattle.org 206.787.3000 APPROVED MINUTES COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING May 23-24, 2016 The Port of Seattle Commission met in a special meeting Monday, May 23, and Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at the Willows Lodge, 14580 Northeast 145th Street, Woodinville, Washington. Commissioners Albro, Bowman, Creighton, Felleman, and Gregoire were present. CALL TO ORDER The meeting convened at 8:30 a.m. Commissioners were briefed on development of plans for long-term capital investment in real estate, industrial and maritime development, and other initiatives to promote regional economic development. They discussed results of a public-opinion survey covering public perceptions about the Port and its mission in the community. Public opinion about Seattle-Tacoma International Airport was also discussed. Commissioners and senior staff engaged in a discussion about alignment of goals, strategies, and policy positions between the Commission and Port staff. Topics included Commission effectiveness in implementing priorities and increasing group cohesion and shared understanding. EXECUTIVE SESSION pursuant to RCW 42.30.110 At 6:30 p.m., the meeting was recessed to an executive session that lasted 30 minutes on one matter related to performance of a public employee. Following the executive session, the Commissioners engaged in dinner conversation between 7:30 and 9:00 p.m., and then recessed for the evening. RECONVENED The meeting reconvened at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at the Willows Lodge. Commissioners and Public Affairs staff discussed planning for community stakeholder involvement and concluded with plans for future Commission retreats. 9.
