C4 UPS SYSTEMS
IMPROVEMENTS
#800107

Project
Location:
C4
STS LEVEL

PROJECT BACKGROUND
C4 UPS SYSTEM PROVIDES BACKUP POWER TO VARIETY OF LIFE-SAFETY, SECURITY, AND
BUSINESS CRITICAL APPLICATIONS- INCLUDING 911 CENTER, AIRPORT COMMUNICATIONS
CENTER AND 800MHZ RADIO SYSTEM.
SYSTEM IS OUTDATED AND HAS EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE FAILURES.
SYSTEM LACKS REDUNDANCY REQUIRED TO SUPPORT CRITICAL AIRPORT FUNCTIONS.
ONLY WAY TO CORRECT SYSTEM PROBLEMS IS TO REDSIGN AND REPLACE PORTIONS OF SYSTEM.
SYSTEM WAS REDESIGNED IN 2007 BUT DECISION WAS MADE NOT TO PROCEED WITH
CONSTRUCTION AT THAT TIME. FAILURES WITHIN THE SYSTEM MAKE THE REPLACEMENT
NECESSARY AT THIS TIME.

Alternative 1
Maintain Status Quo: $0

The existing system could fail and put the Port at
unnecessary risk by not having the code required UPS
to back up critical life safety , airport operations and
business functions. Port could lose 911 certification.

Alternative 2
Replace in Kind: $4,064,238

System lacks redundancy required to ensure adequate
support of critical airport functions. Leaves single points
of failure- no way to bypass problem and connect to
emergency generator. This system is undersized for
current and future growth.

Alternate 3
Replace with Upsized Equipment: $4,147,238

Similar to alternative #2- but solves the problem of
being undersized. This alternative leaves a single
point of failure and system lacks necessary
redundancy.

Alternate 4
Replace with Upsized Equipment and reconfigure power
feeders: $4,555,238

This option provides a redundant system sized to
support current and future needs. Eliminates single
points of failure. Recommended option.

Limitations of Translatable Documents

PDF files are created with text and images are placed at an exact position on a page of a fixed size.
Web pages are fluid in nature, and the exact positioning of PDF text creates presentation problems.
PDFs that are full page graphics, or scanned pages are generally unable to be made accessible, In these cases, viewing whatever plain text could be extracted is the only alternative.
