Port Commission 20-6.) Luv
MeetingMM

I wish to submit written testimony for today's meeting as follows:

The Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust wishes to express its strong support for the
transfer of the King County planned portion of the Eastside Rail Corridor. This arterial
offers a fantastic future North -South regional trail connection in the midst of our urban
areas. We are most assured that once built, the bicycle and pedestrian trail would be
heavily used by bicycle commuters on the eastside, as well as recreational walkers and
bicyclists taking a tour of the area.

We enjoy wonderful regional trails in the area such as the Burke-Gilman and the John
Wayne trails. We lack North South connections between these arterials.

King County Parks builds, promotes, and manages regional trails for the good of all of
us county citizens. They are the right entity to own this portion of the corridor so they

can proceed with the next stages of creating a trail on it.

We greatly appreciate the Port of Seattle's leadership in securing the Eastside Rail
Corridor so as to make this regional trail possible in the first place.

Sincerely,

Cynthia Welti
