SUBJECT: Special Order of Business  ashvi  on riminal Justice Training
Commission (CJTC) 2011 Instructor of the Year: Sergeant Lisa
Neymeyer                '

On March 14, 2012, Sergeant Lisa Neymeyer was selected by the state's Criminal Justice
Training Commission (CJTC) as their 2011 Instructor of the Year in recognition of her
hard work, professionalism, and leadership. Lisa was chosen from hundreds of
instructors who provide basic and in-service training to law enforcement officers all
around Washington.

Sergeant Lisa Neymeyer has been a law enforcement professional for 12 years. She is
Currently a member of the P011 of Seattle Police Department, and is on assignment to
C]TC teaching Criminal Investigations. Lisa also shares the responsibility of teaching
the Crisis Blocks at the academy including Emotional Intelligence, Report Writing,
Stress, Communicating with People with Disabilities, Conict Management, People in
Crisis, and Radio Procedures.

In addition to teaching new recruits, Lisa also assists in teaching leadership courses for
the CJTC. These courses include Pre-Supervision and the Police Training Ofcer's
(PTO) Course. Her strong belief in understanding the need for clear communication

within an organization, implementation of a mission and values, working in partnerships,
and maintaining a positive attitude has been instrumental in the success of the Pre-
SuperviSion Course.

Prior to being assigned to the academy, Lisa was a patrol sergeant for a squad of ofcers,
as well as the PTO Supervisor. She pulled the team of PTOs together and transitioned
the training of entry and lateral ofcers from the San Jose Model to the Reno Model. The
Reno Model is geared towards adult learning theory principles and allows for the student
to use their life experiences in the learning process. Lisa's belief and dedication to the
new training method led to the successful implementation of the program at the Port of
Seattle Police Department.

Additional roles that Lisa has held at the Port of Seattle Police Department include: Field
Training Ofcer, Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor; Honor Guard Supervisor and
Member, Patrol Ofcer, and Bike Ofcer.

Lisa has an AA Degree from Green River Community College and is currently working
on her Bachelor's in Public Safety with an emphasis on Homeland Security from Capella
'
University. Lisa is.a graduate of the 2012 FBI Command College, hosted by the
Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission.
