Dear Phil,

I am writing to report on my experience with Pettit Hydrocoat Eco bottom paint
in Puget Sound, primarily docked in Eagle
on my 1981 Gulfstar 39 after one year
Harbor on Bainbridge Island, WA. As you know, l-have been hauling
approximately every two years at Seaview since 1987 for a bottom job and have
which has
typically been using a high copper paint like Pettit's Trinidad SR
performed satisfactorily. l have depended on a diver-scrub after the first year for
the usual light coating of soft growth over a majority of the bottom.


When you suggested I try Hydrocoat Eco during my April, 2014, haul, with the
offer to fix it if l wasn't satisfied, l was very willing be a test boat. After a month
of summer cruising and a few months back at our dock, i was somewhat
concerned about some growth i could see, although admittedly the water
and l agreed to
visibility more than a foot or two below the surface waspoOr. You
give it a full year and then return for a haulout and assessment. When "Privateer
Il'l was lifted out this week, with Rachel from Pettit, Tacoma, attending, we were
all smiling at the almost completely clean bottom. Other than light slime, some
hull was
minor growth at the waterline area a couple of random patches, the
'
definitely cleaner after a year than afforded by the Trinidad SR.

You can count on my using the Hydrocoat Eco again next spring when I head over
to Seaview West yard.

On our recent visit to Seaview West, we learned of the details of your plans for
expanding the Yard space. As a long time customer (since the late 1980's) with
~   our Golfstar 39, we have a great appreciation for your need for more space. Not
only has the haul-out'business groWn but the average boat size continues to
increase. There have been times during our stays when access by ladder to our
boat has been a challenge because of theneed to minimize spacing between
boats.

We strongly support your efforts to make the needed changes and hope that the
- Port of Seattle will work with you.
